小包装机的总体结构与工作过程类似单工位打包机，称量、灌装及封口机构装置在同一设备内，设备的体积较小。小包装机自带的自动秤也有机械式或电子式两种类型。使用塑料袋包装时采用热压封口，用纸袋或编织袋包装时采用缝口机封封口。
